Virtual Karting Briefing

Before taking to the circuit, every driver should understand the fundamentals of safe and competitive karting. This virtual briefing introduces essential track procedures, flag signals, racing etiquette, overtaking guidelines and pit-lane protocols. Whether you are participating for the first time or returning for another race weekend, taking a few moments to review these procedures helps ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for everyone on track.

Welcome Motorheads

Welcome to El' Uno Extreme, where speed, skill and sportsmanship come together on Abuja's premier karting circuit. The name El' Uno means The First and The Best, and every driver who enters our track is expected to uphold that standard. Whether this is your first visit or you are a returning competitor, these briefing notes will help you enjoy a safe, fair and exciting racing experience.

Before participating, all drivers must meet the minimum requirements for their category.

Drivers in the Junior Division must be between 6 and 12 years of age, have a minimum height of 1.20 metres to ensure safe control of the kart, and must not exceed the maximum weight limit of 136 kg (300 lbs).

Drivers aged 13 years and above compete in the Adult Division and will be assigned the appropriate kart for that category. Adult drivers must have a minimum height of 1.45 metres and must also remain within the maximum weight limit of 136 kg (300 lbs).

These requirements exist to ensure that every participant can safely operate the kart and enjoy a competitive racing experience.

Personal Belongings and Safety Equipment

For your safety and the safety of others, all loose items must be secured before entering the track area. Mobile phones, cameras, keys, wallets and other personal belongings are not permitted while driving. Lockers are provided for convenient storage and should be used before proceeding to the grid.

Drivers with long hair, braids or dreadlocks must ensure that their hair is fully secured within their helmet or race suit. Loose clothing, scarves, chains, jewellery or any item capable of becoming entangled with moving equipment must be removed or safely secured.

Helmets must be properly fitted and securely fastened at all times while on the circuit. The visor should remain closed whenever the driver is on the track.

Appropriate footwear is mandatory. Only fully enclosed shoes are permitted. Slippers, sandals, slides, heels, Crocs and other open footwear are strictly prohibited.

Understanding Your Kart

Operating your kart correctly is essential for both performance and safety. The left pedal controls the brake while the right pedal controls acceleration. Drivers should avoid pressing both pedals simultaneously, as this can reduce performance and cause unnecessary wear on the kart.

Keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel, ideally in the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions. This provides maximum control and helps maintain stability through corners.

Racing Conduct

El' Uno Extreme is a motorsport facility, not a bumper-car arena. Intentional contact between karts is strictly prohibited. Drivers must not ram, push, block aggressively or force competitors into barriers or tyre walls.

Dangerous driving, reckless behaviour, repeated rule violations or any form of deliberate contact may result in penalties, remote kart shutdown, removal from the session, disqualification or suspension from future events.

Competitors are expected to drive with respect for fellow racers, race officials and track regulations at all times.

Track Flag Signals

Marshals positioned around the circuit communicate important information using coloured flags. Every driver must understand and obey these signals immediately.

Green Flag: The track is clear and racing conditions are normal. Drivers may continue at racing speed.

Yellow Flag: There is a hazard or incident ahead. Drivers must reduce speed, remain alert and refrain from overtaking until normal racing conditions are restored.

Red Flag: The session has been stopped due to an emergency or unsafe condition. Drivers must slow down immediately, stop safely as directed and remain in their karts until instructed otherwise.

Black Flag: The driver shown the black flag has committed a serious rule violation. The driver must return directly to the pit lane and report to race officials. Repeated offences may result in removal from future events.

Chequered Flag: The session has concluded. Drivers should complete a controlled cool-down lap and return safely to the pit lane.

In Case of a Spin or Breakdown

The most important safety rule at El' Uno Extreme is simple:

If your kart spins, stalls, becomes stranded or is involved in an incident, do not exit the kart.

Remain seated with your seatbelt secured and raise both hands clearly above your head to alert marshals that assistance is required. Our trained track staff will respond promptly and assist you safely.

Leaving a kart on an active race circuit can place both the driver and other competitors at unnecessary risk. For this reason, drivers must remain in their karts until instructed otherwise by a marshal.

Final Reminder

Karting is most enjoyable when every participant follows the rules, respects fellow competitors and prioritises safety. Listen carefully to race officials, obey marshal instructions and always drive responsibly.

We wish you an exciting, competitive and memorable experience at El' Uno Extreme.
